Our Halloween party will be on Wednesday, Oct. 31st around 1:45. Kids may bring a costume to change into. No weapons, blood, or makeup will be needed for school.
Parent/Teacher conferences start this week. Our first night will be on Thursday, November 1st. I sent reminder notes home last week, if your time no longer works please let me know and we can reschedule. Our time is only 15 minutes long and I have many back to back, so please try to be on time.
Math: We will finish division and move into volume
Spelling: We will get a new list this week.
SS: We are starting to learn about European Explorers,
End of the quarter was Friday! I will be sending home reminder notes about the time you signed up for parent/teacher conferences.
PBIS reward party will be Thursday afternoon and AR party will be on Friday afternoon.
Band starts this week and a practice schedule went home last week.
Math: We have been working on division and will finish that up this week.
Social Studies: We finally finished up our geography unit, briefly discussed Indians, and will be starting European Explorers this week.
Spelling: Our next test will be on Thursday.

This week will be busy with homecoming. We will have our Knightwalk starting at 9:30 on Friday morning. We will also be attending the pep rally at the High School that afternoon before being dismissed to watch the parade. Spelling: Test Thursday, October 11.
Social Studies: Test Tuesday, October 9.
Math: We had a multiplication quiz on Friday. Keep working on the multiplication skills. This week we will start division.
Reminder that there is No School on Friday, Oct. 5 or Monday, Oct. 8.
Spelling: Students took their spelling test this week and will be getting a new set of words for this week.
Social Studies: We are looking to finish up the geography unit soon.
Math: We took our place value test and have now moved into multiplication.
Reminder that we have no school on Monday for an School Improvement Day.
Spelling: We have started our working with the first list that we will be tested over. Our first test will be on, Thursday, September 27. All of our tests should fall on a Thursday.
Social Studies: We are still working on the geography unit. This week we talked about why landforms and climate effect our lives.
Math: We took our place value test on Tuesday. We then started our next chapter on multiplication and division. Multiplication will be our focus for the beginning of the chapter. We will be learning how to multiply using the partial product method and area model. If you have any questions about these methods, please let me know.
Mr. Mitchell came to the classroom this week to discuss band with the students and have them take a test. The high school band also came over for a performance. Any questions about band can be directed to Mr. Mitchell.
Math: We are finishing up our place value unit and will have a test on Tuesday, September 18. We will review on Monday before the test. Our next unit will be multiplication and division.
Spelling: We didn't start spelling last week because we were using the time to continue our social studies lessons. Spelling groups will start this week and they will have a test every 2 weeks.
Social Studies: We continue to discuss geography. Our focus this week was on landforms and how they effect how we live. We also worked on longitude and latitude.
Our four day week was a busy one! Everyone looked wonderful on Wednesday for their pictures!
Band notes went home on Friday. Mr. Mitchell will be pulling classes to go over all of the information soon.
Don't forget to collection money for our knight walk, which will be held in Mansfield on Friday, October 12.
Spelling: We continued to practice what sorts look like so we are ready to go when we start spelling groups this week.
Social Studies: We are still working on our geography unit. We will be working on latitude and longitude the week, along with different types of landforms and how they impact us.
Math: We are still working on place value. We should finish up this unit this week and will be ready for the test next week. This week we are going to work on comparing decimals and rounding decimals.

Remember we have no school on Monday, September 3rd for Labor Day. Picture day is Wednesday, September 5th.
Spelling: We took a pretest in order to get the class split into groups. Each group will have their own spelling lists and will be working at their level. After taking the test, we have been practicing the different types of sorts and in class activities that the students will be completing to practice their words. This week we will continue working on sorts with another practice list.
Social Studies: We took a pretest on geography skills. This test helps me to know what to focus on teaching during this chapter. We started off by reviewing the continents and oceans. This week we will work on the difference between a continent, country and state, cardinal directions, and longitude and latitude.
Math: We have been working on place value to the thousandths place (3 place values after the decimal point). First, we had to learn all of the place value names. Then, we worked on multiplying and dividing a decimal number by 10, 100, and 1000. This week we will work on exponents and writing numbers in expanded form, standard from, and word form.
Our first week is in the books and it has been a good one! We worked a lot on creating a positive classroom atmosphere that is welcoming for all students and their thoughts/ideas. We also reviewed all of the rules for the areas throughout the school and in the classroom.
Next week, we will start into our core classes. I am looking forward to getting into the curriculum and learning a lot of new things.
